"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us." - Hebrews 12:1
We were blessed to have Bert Snippe with us this Lord's Day. He challenged us to be sensitized to sin, to confess sin and to forsake sin. To accept the Lord's chastening and know that He chastens us, because He loves us and wants to restore us to Himself. And finally to 'cast all our cares upon Him, for He careth for us.' May we 'see God' in whatever trials or tribulations we face this week and throw aside any weights that are hindering us in our race or desensitizing us to sin.
The younger sisters in the assembly hosted a luncheon for the older ladies at the Payne's home on Saturday. It was a wonderful time of fellowship and friendship. The luncheon was served by the younger girls, with a time of singing and music to follow. Sheryl gave a lovely devotion on doing what we can for the Lord in the way of giving, hospitality and caring. It is a blessing to have these older sisters in the assembly and we are very thankful for their testimonies and many lessons they can pass on to the younger sisters.
II Timothy Bible Study
The Wednesday night meetings are currently focusing on Paul's second letter to Timothy. So far we have looked at an overview of the letter (led by Garry) and verses 1-7 of chapter 1 (led by Andrew Ussher). Last week had a particular focus on giving thanks for, prayer for and thought of Timothy. We looked at the special bond between these two saints, and how it can encourage us as an assembly to develop relationships such as these with other believers and members of our assembly. It is an encouragement to see many of the brethren partaking in this meeting, and we do encourage all who are able, to attend. The outline for this coming meeting can be found here. (v8-18 will be led by Paul Marisette.)
