Monthly Blog

August 11. This week at Langstaff

Langstaff Oversight

It has been a beautiful summer so far full of beautiful weather and good times together but unfortunately the summer months are nearing their end. This means an end to summer vacations and back to school for the younger ones but it also means that we will be back to full attendance and it will be great to see everyone again. Here are some things to keep in mind this week at Langstaff:

Summer Teaching Series Continued

Last week Andrew Ussher gave us an introduction and overview of the series. If you missed it, you can find an outline/handout here. We hope to see everyone out this Wednesday evening at 7:15pm to continue out summer teaching series. There will be 20 mins of prayer and then Michael DaSilva Jr will be leading us through ch. 1 of 1 Timothy. Prayers for him that the Lord will give him help and for us to receive the truth of scripture with open hearts would be appreciated. You can view and download the outline for this week here.

Children's Meetings

This has been announced a number of times but it is important for us to help in any way we can and most importantly to pray. We hope children from the community and other outreach events come and learn more of the Bible. We hope that seeds are planted in their lives and that they can be doors into homes and families to be transformed by the gospel. The meetings will run from August 18-22. If you can/are willing to help out in any way, please contact Gary Williamson or Peter Lansing.

Middle East

Things in the middle east have escalated to the extent that most of us probably do not understand how severe it truly is. When we read or think about the persecution of the church over there our response should be two fold: We should thank the Lord for the freedom and comfort we have here in Canada, but most of all, desperately pray for the Christians in these countries that they would be given comfort and a peace that passeth all understanding in their suffering.

  • Continue to pray for Steve Walker (Craig’s brother) and Andrew Joyce, giving thanks for the measure of recovery that has occurred
  • Pray for Rachel Joyce and Ann Hollinshead with back pain and Keith Hollinshead with his knee.
  • Pray for the family of George Whey that the may be comforted. For Bryan Joyce as well for safety in his return.
  • Pray for the widows and those who are elderly
