What we believe God’s Way of Salvation We believe that men and women are born sinners on the broad road that leads to eternal judgment in hell and, eventually, to the lake of fire. We also believe that the salvation of a person's eternal soul for eternal judgment on account of sin against God can only be obtained through faith in the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible states that we are saved by God's grace alone and completely apart from our works. Out of love for our souls, God sent his eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to accomplish salvation for us. Thus, when He died on the cross, God punished Him for our sins. The Lord Jesus was buried and on the third day He rose again, as He said He would, as proof that death had no claim upon Him and no power over Him. God was satisfied with the work that was accomplished on the cross. A person is converted, saved, born again or becomes a Christian the moment he or she personally puts their faith in the work and person of Christ to forgive them of their sin and take them to heaven. The Two Roads chart illustrates the road to salvation. Christian Living Christians do not simply live according to a prescribed set of rules or do's and don'ts; rather, we believe that believers in the Lord Jesus Christ have a genuine God-given desire to please Him and live for Him from the moment they are saved. It is only by growing in our knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, through studying His Word, and by deepening our relationship with Him, through prayer, that we can know and fulfill God's plan for our lives. At the moment of conversion, the Holy Spirit indwells the believer and He enables us to live for God and to have victory over sin in our lives. Local Church Testimony We believe that the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2) ushered in the church age wherein God would save men and women, boys and girls through the message of the gospel, preached (in particular localities) and carried forth(in outreach to other localities) by groups of believers meeting together as local churches in testimony to God. Other purposes of a local church, apart from spreading the message of the gospel, are to worship God and to teach the truths of God's word so that believers can learn and grow in their relationship with God and the Lord Jesus Christ. The believers at the Langstaff gospel Hall gather regularly for a variety of purposes. |
